Good Society Brewery opening a new taproom this Friday in Seattle

Born and brewed in West Seattle, Good Society Brewery will open its satellite taproom in the Queen Anne neighborhood on Friday, January 5th.

This past Saturday, I was fortunate enough to attend the soft opening of Good Society Brewery’s new taproom. As a West Seattlite, the brewery is one with which I am very familiar. Queen Anne’s hilltop community, which is currently breweryless, is in for a treat.

First up, Good Society Brewery and Public House is still a mystery to many beer lovers around the Seattle area, and that’s a shame. I blame it on the pandemic because the brewery and pub opened in West Seattle at just about the same moment that the world shut down. And then there was the whole West Seattle Bridge debacle.

Whatever the case, Good Society is pretty awesome, has a great mission statement, brews really good beer, and has won some impressive awards, so more people need to know about it. Like, did you know it won Best Small Brewpub of the Year at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival? All of us beer-loving locals over here on West Seattle Island absolutely love the place!

Back to Queen Anne. The new taproom opens this Saturday. It is just the right size, not too big and not too small. The decor has a great vibe that feels very much like the cozy, and dare I say cute, Queen Anne neighborhood itself. It is very much a brewery taproom, but also feels a bit like a living room. In addition to the lower part of the taproom, a ramp leads up to a second space, which provides more seating and more coziness.

The location is great, too. It is one of the neighborhood’s little business hubs, at the corner of West McGraw and 6th Ave West, right across the street from Ken’s Market and a block down the street from Targy’s Tavern. Street parking only; no parking lot. Metro route 2 will deliver you right to the corner of McGraw and 6th, while routes 3, 4, and 13 will get you within a few blocks.

The new taproom isn’t serving any food, but there’s plenty of that available very nearby, so grab something at Macrina Bakery or Malena’s Taco Shop and bring it with you. Your pooch and your kids are also welcome.
