Chuckanut Brewery Taps Rauch Helles
Chuckanut Brewery has just tapped an ever-flavorful, smoky blonde lager called Rauch Helles at South Nut in Skagit Valley (11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington) and soon to be on at the Brewery & Kitchen in Bellingham (601 W Holly St). Chuckanut created the Rauch Helles last year in collaboration with Redhook’s experimental brewer Nick Crandall. This ionic beer captures the smoky flavors of a Rauch Lager, combined with the gentle and easy-to-drink Helles Lager making for a great summer beer to be enjoyed as a regular drinking beer or as an accompaniment to your summer barbeque. Chuckanut’s Rauch Helles won a Gold medal at the WA Beer Awards 2016.
Chuckanut Rauch Helles provides a deep, malty flavor spiked with smoky overtones due to the use of beech wood smoked malted barley. It pairs delectably with grilled sandwiches, ham, and a variety of seafood. It has an ABV of 4.7% and leaves a classic dry lager finish on the pallet. The Rauch Helles Lager style is rarely brewed in both the USA and in Germany where it was originally created.
Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen, located at 601 West Holly St, was awarded the National Small Brewpub of the Year 2009 and Small Brewing Company 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. The full service “Kitchen” serves lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night food with an eclectic fresh local menu for all ages. Pint Night on Monday and Kolsch Night Tuesday’s are some of the extra activities. Chuckanut Brewery’s South Nut Tap Room is located at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington. All ages are welcome to enjoy beverages, beer garden games and games inside the Tap Room. Picnic supplies, visiting food trucks or food from home or nearby restaurants are welcome.
