Top 3 Breweries of 2024

The Beer in Review also awards the top three breweries that produced the three collective highest-rated beers of the year. 2024 saw a tie for first runner-up with both pFriem Family Brewers in Hood River, Oregon and Pure Project Brewing in San Diego, California racking up two World Class beers and one Exceptional offering.

For the second consecutive year, our Brewery of the Year dazzled with three World Class-rated beers, one achieving a near-perfect score of 98 and being named our #2 beer of the year. Kloster Andechs, situated on the Holy Mountain in Andechs, Germany is The Beer Connoisseur’s Brewery of the Year in 2024!

The brewing traditions of the Andechs region can be traced all the way back to the 12th century, when pilgrims came to the Holy Mountain of Andechs and were served food and ale. The Kloster Andechs monastery brewery was founded in 1455, and the brewery’s traditional brewing techniques are far more time-consuming than conventional brewing methods. However, that focus on quality over turnaround defines the brewing team’s philosophy, which is in keeping with the concept of all of the monastery’s enterprises: “Our tradition is being progressive, and we owe our progress to a long tradition.”
