The other day we posted a story about Reuben’s Brews. Today we have more information about the upcoming anniversary celebration. This comes to us by way of their regular email newsletter. Sign up for the mailing list on the company’s website http://reubensbrews.com/.
Here’s the word:
Back on Sunday August 5, 2012 we opened our doors for the very first time. With great trepidation, on a very hot day, we greeted our first customers and poured 5 beers in our tasting room in a very exciting and fun day. We can’t believe that was almost a year ago! We decided to brew a session pale ale for our anniversary beer. If you’ve ever had our dry hopped cask conditioned Balsch, you’ll know exactly what this beer will be like! We will take a light pilsner based grain bill, our favorite Kolsch yeast fermented at a cold temperature, keep the IBUs down to around 25 and then dry hop the beer with Citra and Amarillo. It’s a low ABV – 4.4% – tasty session ale.
We’ve also been planning some events to celebrate – here are the highlights:
THURSDAY AUGUST 1: National IPA day! We’ll have some special IPAs to celebrate. Think fruit IPA and randalls… We’ll post details on Facebook and Twitter nearer the date.
FRIDAY AUGUST 2: Ballard Fermentation Project. Ballard’s Great Harvest have been baking a “Brewer’s Bread” – using our American Rye instead of some water in the dough, and adding some spent grain, combined with cranberries. It’s incredibly tasty! The owner and baker Mark will be at the brewery on Friday and will share with us some samples, discuss the brew, and we’ll have a special cask of American Rye on tap then too.
SATURDAY AUGUST 3: Anniversary Party. The release of our Anniversary Session Ale will be at noon! Along with a rare appearance from our Bourbon Barrel Russian Imperial Stout. Also, we took our US Open Gold Medal winning Auld Heritage and aged it in Bourbon Barrels – and this brew will make it’s first appearance on tap also at noon! We may be able to make some additional unique brews for this day too – watch Facebook and Twitter for our final taplist. Our food truck for the day will be the awesome Cheese Wizards.
SUNDAY AUGUST 4: Taproom will be open noon to 5pm. (Normal hours) Our Anniversary Session Pale will be on tap, as will any remaining barrel aged brews from the day before.
MONDAY AUGUST 5: This is our “official” anniversary date! As our tasting room won’t be open, our top keg customers will have a 1/6BBL of our Anniversary Session Pale on tap that night – Chucks, Brouwers, Bravehorse Tavern, Black Bottle Belltown, and Stoneburner on Ballard Ave. We’ll be at Brouwers that night to celebrate in person – they’ll have four of our beers on tap and we hope to see you there!
