Airways Brewing of Kent, Washington announced today that it will close one of its two locations. The Airways Bistro and Beer Garden in downtown Kent will close permanently on Saturday, October 26th. The closure does not impact the Airways Brewery and Taproom on S. 212th Street. Keep an eye on social media for updates.

Not long ago, the Bistro and Beer Garden underwent some renovations, primarily to the patio. Airways Brewing told the Washington Beer Blog that, due to unforeseen issues with the construction, the project became an incurable headache. Airways Brewing says it simply was not able to bounce back from the financial hardship. Along with that, the property owner decided to raise the rent substantially. There’s more to the story, but those factors contributed to the closing.

None of this impacts the Airways Brewery and Taproom across town, where you’ll still be able to get your Jumbo Juice IPA, Fresh Hop Sky Hag (currently), and head brewer Alex Dittmar’s increasingly delicious lagers.

“We’re sad to announce the final few weeks for The Bistro & Beer Garden in Downtown Kent are upon us,” said a statement on the brewery’s social media channels. “The last day of service is planned to be Saturday, October 26th, but we may have to adjust hours/days depending on staffing levels. This does not affect The Tap Room & Brewery location on 212th St, which will continue operating.”

“We informed our Bistro crew yesterday to hopefully give them a head start in finding new employment.”

“Thank you for all your support these past almost 13 years. We’d love to see you at The Bistro & Beer Garden this week enjoying lunch or dinner or whatever, but we’d suggest visiting sooner than later. I’m sure our employees would appreciate seeing you as well.”
