Not too long ago, we shared news that Larry Rock, the local beer legend, had joined the team at White Bluffs Brewing in Richland, Washington. Larry is now representing the brewery on the west side of the Cascades, so folks on the wetter side of the mountains can expect to start seeing more of White Bluffs’ beers. Today, we are happy to announce that White Bluffs Brewing is the newest sponsor of the Washington Beer Blog.
Mike Sutherland is the co-owner and brewmaster at White Bluffs Brewing. When he decided to open a brewery in 2010, he turned to Larry Rock, one of his old buddies. Larry had worked in the beer industry for a long time and acted as a consultant. So, Larry and Mike working directly together is something new, but the relationship between them is not.
I recently called White Bluffs Brewing one of the best Washington breweries that folks around Seattle probably don’t know. The brewery has earned numerous awards. Most recently, for example, two medals at the 2025 Best of Craft Beer Awards; Red Alt and Mighty Knight Imperial Stout both received gold medals. Among many other beers, the Nectar Of The Gods IPA is a personal favorite and has stood the test of time as the winds of IPA have shifted and then shifted again.
Mike makes some damned good beer, even if you rarely see it on taplists west of the mountains. Hopefully, that will change soon. We are happy to have White Bluffs Brewing on board as a sponsor and look forward to helping you learn more about the brewery and its beers.
The brewery and its taproom are located in North Richland, just off Highway 240. It is open seven days a week, with food trucks on site Wednesday through Sunday. White Bluffs Brewing’s beers are distributed throughout Washington state via Orcas Distributing. In the Tri-Cities, the beers are self-distributed by the brewery.
