Saturday’s event includes a beer release, a tasting experience, and more.
As the hackneyed old saying goes, time flies. True, though not in a straight line so much as a squiggly, unpredictable path — sort of like the flight of a bumblebee. And speaking of bees, Watts Brewing, which leans into a beautiful bee theme, is about to mark its 3rd anniversary in Woodinville, Washington. They’re celebrating with an event at the taproom on Saturday, September 26th.
Watts Brewing itself is a bit older than three, but the current chapter began in the summer of 2023, when the company took over the space and operation from Sumerian Brewing after its owners decided it was time to exit the beer biz and pursue other ventures. After a brief closure — so Watts could pollinate the taproom with fresh paint and its own bee-themed flair (see what I did there?) — the doors reopened. Since then Watts has hosted all sorts of events, including events that help educate folks about the important role pollinators play in our lives.
What’s with the bee thing?
Evan Watts is the fella behind the brewery. The Watts Brewing brand takes inspiration from the family bee business. You may wonder, what is a bee business? It’s a business that supplies farmers with bees to sustainably pollinate their crops. Evan’s grandfather started the company more than 50 years ago and today Watts Solitary Bees and Rent Mason Bees is the largest solitary bee provider in the country for both farmers and backyard gardeners. Evan grew up in the bee industry and Watts Brewing represents the combination of his love for bees and beers.
The anniversary event on Saturday includes the release of Waggle Dance Wet Hop IPA, the brewery’s award-winning fresh hop beer. Waggle dance refers to a very interesting thing that honeybees do. Watts Brewing names all of its beers after bee things.
Saturday’s Event
“Saturday, September 26 marks three years in Woodinville,” said the brewery. “We’re so thankful for the support, both in getting here, and since we’ve opened the taproom! We’re pulling out all the stops for this party, starting with the release of Waggle Dance.”
“We have some fun plans for that guided harvest tasting. We will be sipping through a few rounds of tastings, pairing our recent releases with the raw ingredients from the harvest that define these beers.” Learn more about that and get tickets to the tasting event here.

- Outsider BBQ 3-8 pm
- Guided harvest tasting 4 pm
- Live music with Dain Norman & The Chrysalis Effect 7-10 pm
“After the tasting the party continues with live music starting at 7 pm. This year we have Dain Norman & The Chrysalis Effect, a classic rock band playing favorites from the Beatles to Tom Petty to Led Zeppelin to Nirvana, plus some Dain Norman originals!”
“It should be a fun filled Saturday, and we hope you can join us! But even if you miss it, there are so many fun things happening this week, that you will have plenty of opportunities to drop by. Thursday 9/24 we have a special edition of Boots & Brews line dancing, celebrating 2 years of Boots & Brews with Wildflower Dance Co., then Sunday 9/27 we welcome Rent Mason Bees back to the brewery for their annual Mason Bee Block Party!”
