As our beloved craft breweries navigate the changing beer landscape, they’ve learned a few things about the contemporary beer consumer. Here are two examples: Today’s craft beer fan is more health-conscious than ever. Also, breweries must create occasions: “Let’s go drink beer because it’s Saturday” isn’t enough. People want a reason—an occasion. If you’ve paid attention, you’ve noticed an increase in activity-oriented events. For instance, we’ve seen an uptick in breweries offering yoga classes, weekly run clubs, etc. The Washington Brewery Running Series™ fits right into this conversation.
The Washington Brewery Running Series coordinates 5k-ish fun runs (walking is great too). These untimed, non-competitive, family-friendly events start and end at local breweries and raise funds for local nonprofit organizations. The goal is to get people active, have fun, and share beverages. The next event is scheduled for Sunday, May 18th at Old Stove Brewing in Seattle (Old Stove Gardens in Ballard). We share the 2025 schedule below and will update it as events are added. Enjoy a special for the Washington Beer Blog by using the promo code “OldStoveG10Off”.
The Washington Brewery Running Series has events planned at nearly a dozen participating breweries around Washington. They’ll add more soon. These events occur from Everett to Washougal, Yakima to Seattle, and all points in between. The ticketed events benefit the specified nonprofit organization. This particular event benefits the Ballard Food Bank. Remember to use the Washington Beer Blog promo code “OldStoveG10Off”.
The ticket price includes:
Participation in the run/jog/walk.
A beverage upon completion.
A commemorative pint glass and/or other swag.
Access to the day’s events (live music, etc).
That happy feeling that you’ve supported a good cause.
About the Brewery Running Series
- WHAT WE DO: We organize 5k-ish, fun-run courses that all start and end at local breweries. No time clock, no pressure – just a really good reason to drink really good beer! We welcome all levels of runners, walkers, joggers, and crawlers – it’s fun for the whole fam
- WHY WE DO IT: Our mission is to be active, have fun, and give back! In addition to pairing some exercise and good beer, a portion of all proceeds go back to local non-profits. Check our tally above to see how many dollars we’ve been able to donate so far!
- HOW WE GOT HERE: The Brewery Running Series started in Minneapolis in 2012 by Nate Herrington and Morgan Jappe. They wanted to combine their favorite things – being active, drinking beer, and supporting their community. Turns out, a few thousand other locals share those same interests! A few years and tens of thousands of beers and miles later, they decided to branch out, sharing the concept with local organizers across the country.
- The Washington Brewery Running Series is locally managed and operated by Seattle resident Ryan Muller. Ryan is the mastermind behind the Washington event schedule and ensures everyone has a great run/walk, delicious beer, and a fun experience!
- As long as there’s beer, we’re running for it!
