Brewery announces that its new, second location will open in early 2026
A stone’s throw away from the ferry terminal, Seattle’s Urban Family Brewing will open its second location, a taproom on Seattle’s waterfront. It will be more than a beer joint. Urban Family Waterfront will also offer craft cocktails, local wines, coffee, and an in-house food menu “crafted by some familiar faces,” said a press release from the company.
The location includes 4,000 square feet of interior space along with a 4,500 square foot patio. Urban Family Waterfront is right across the street from Ivar’s Fish Bar at Pier 54, a Seattle landmark familiar to a many people. The address is 1022 Alaskan Way. The new location will welcome humans and dogs of all ages. As previously reported, Reuben’s Brews recently opened its downtown Seattle taproom at the corner of 1st Avenue and Seneca Street. The new Urban Family Waterfront taproom is just a couple of blocks away.
“Urban Family Waterfront will be a comfortable space to take in all this city has to offer,” says Andy Gundel, owner of Urban Family Brewing. “We want to be a hub for everyone: people visiting Seattle for the first time, locals who need a spot to hang out before and after a game, commuters waiting for their next bus or ferry, and everybody in between.”
“We have been searching for a new location in Seattle that best fits the evolution of our small brewery and it feels like we’ve finally found the spot,” said Andy. “We love everything about craft beer, and want to expand that enthusiasm to a whole new concept.”
This news does not come as a surprise to some of us. We’ve known about the plan for a while, but were waiting for Urban Family Brewing to make the official announcement. Now it has. As we wait for the opening, visit Urban Family at its brewery and taproom in Seattle’s bustling Ballard Brewery District at 1103 NW 52nd St. Keep an eye on Urban Family’s Instagram and sign up for the brewery’s mailing list to stay informed.
