The brewery boom continues in Ballard. At this point, Ballard needs another brewery like Capitol Hill needs another pierced and painted hipster in a trucker cap. Or like West Seattle needs another minivan with an “I’d rather be doing yoga” bumper sticker. But hey, breweries are good, and as the resident of another Seattle neighborhood I don’t need to sound so jealous. Which I am. Just the facts. This Friday, at 5:00 p.m., two breweries open in Ballard.
Some time ago we told you about Peddler Brewing Company, a new brewery coming to Ballard. Peddler Brewing will be located in the old Maritime Pacific location at 1514 NW Leary Way. Keep an eye on the company’s Facebook page for more information. See our previous post about Peddler Brewing.
Also, some time ago we told you about Populuxe Brewing Company, another new brewery coming to Ballard. The team at Populuxe has been working busily, putting everything through its paces. You’ll find Populuxe (and its Championship Cornhole Court) at 826B NW 49th St. Follow Populuxe Brewing on Facebook to stay informed. See our previous post about Populuxe Brewing.
Peddler Brewing
On Friday, March 8th at 5:00 p.m. Peddler Brewing will open its doors to the public for the first time. The opening day lineup includes eight beers: Kolsch, Caramel ESB, Pale Ale, IPA, Tangerine Wheat, Snow Beer’d (dark winter), Belgian Lights (winter-spiced Belgian-style) and Coffee Saison. This is a tasting room only: pints, tasters and beer to go. Bring your own food. For now, hours will be limited to Fridays 5-10 p.m. and Saturdays 4-10 p.m. Visitor will notice a bicycle theme at the brewery. Not just the bike-themed decor, but Peddler Brewing will also have a public bike work station and a nine-bike indoor parking rack.
Populuxe Brewing
Not far up the street, about the exact same time, Populuxe will welcome the public for the first time. Here’s what they had to say on their blog:
It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally ready to open our doors to the public. Our first official open day will be next Friday at 5PM. We’ll have a “grand opening” at some point a little later in the future, after we finish the bar build out, but as of 3/8 you can come on down for a pint between 5-9. Down the road we’ll be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday – maybe Sunday depending on demand and what’s happening around town. Accurate hours will always be posted here (to the right) or you can just give us a call.
We’ve had a few events over this past weekend to help us iron out our systems. Our soft opening and a few exclusive Founders Club events have prepped us to the point where we probably won’t embarrass ourselves in front of the general public. Knowing how to make change, how long it takes to change a keg, how many glasses we go through, etc. is really going to help once we’re doing regular business hours at the tasting room.
Look for a keg or two around town as well. We’ll get something out in the next month or so to one of the local watering holes. Keep your eyes posted here for that info.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us through this process, and to all of our Founders who helped get this ball rolling. We couldn’t have don it without you.
Cheers!
