Release event this Saturday, look for the 2025 3-Way IPA across the Northwest soon
For the past 13 years, Fort George Brewery has embarked on an epic quest to create the best IPA for summer. Most know it as 3-Way IPA. It’s one of the year’s most highly anticipated beer releases, especially among hop-loving IPA fanatics. We are gifted with a different 3-Way collaboration involving Fort George and two other breweries each year.
The 2025 ménage à trois involved Fort George Brewery, Mirage (Seattle), and Sunriver Brewing (Sunriver, OR). The first beer, a West Coast IPA, is scheduled for release in mid-May. A second 3-Way is expected in a couple of months. Some of this year’s 3-Way beta versions are already in the wild (I saw one recently at The Beer Junction). The brewery will release the final product this Saturday: a West Coast IPA with Krush (formerly HBC 586), Waimea, and Nelson hops.
Over the years, Fort George Brewery has collaborated with several great breweries on 3-Way IPA. The list of esteemed, award-winning breweries is long. Fort George invited them all back for a festival: Lupulin Ecstacy. The event occurs on Saturday, May 17th, in Astoria at the Flavel House Museum and Oregon Film Museum. Get tickets here. A portion of the ticket price will benefit the Clatsop County Historical Society, supporting the Uppertown Firefighters Museum, the Heritage Museum, the Oregon Film Museum, and the Flavel House. Keep an eye on social media for other release events around the region. The beer will then hit the Fort George distribution network. Look for it wherever you find Fort George Brewery’s beers across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Northern California.
“You can join the brewers from Mirage, Sunriver, and the Fort this month for the release of 3-WAY IPA at Lupulin Ecstasy Festival,” said the announcement on social media. “We’ll be pouring more than 50 of the best, newest, weirdest, tastiest beers all across the grounds of the Historic Flavel House in Downtown Astoria.”
“Prepare to enter a mystical realm – journey through the grand history of Astoria as you wander the grounds of the Flavel Mansion and Oregon Film Museum. Expand your hop-perception sipping lupulin delights right in the heart of downtown, with live music, special attractions, tantalizing food and virtually endless tastes of IPAs from past 3-Way collaborators, potential future collaborators, and other best buds we’ve accumulated over the years.
Fort George Brewing says that since late last summer, the brewers at Sunriver, Mirage and Fort George have been “studying and experimenting, test-brewing and test-drinking, selecting and sharing, consulting and colluding, debating and debriefing, to bring you this year’s 3-Way IPA: a crisp, flavorful culmination of the knowledge, experience and day-drinking of three of the world’s leading IPA authorities.”
