The annual Summer Celebration of Beer at Sound2Summit Brewery (July 21 through 24) is more than a chance to drink some excellent beer. This event pays tribute to the brewery education program at Skagit Valley College, which produces qualified candidates for the local brewing industry.
The Craft Brewing Academy offers a set of courses designed to educate people about all aspects of the brewery biz, from making the beer to owning the brewery. Graduates of the Academy are strewn across the local industry, including at the eight breweries involved in the Summer Celebration of Beer.
Here’s the announcement from Sound2Summit Brewery regarding this year’s event.
Annual Summer Celebration of Beer Line-Up Announced
Sound2Summit Brewery is hosting the Summer Celebration of Beer starting June 21-June 24. They have invited 7 other breweries to provide their FAVORITE summer beer, a beer that they feel best represents them. This year, they threw in a hitch – each of the breweries support the Cardinal Craft Brewing program from Skagit Valley College.
Doug Milnor and Tom Ovens, two of the owners of S2S are graduates of Skagit Valley Community College, Craft Brewing program. It is a 9-month, 40-credit program that goes into detail on ALL aspects of brewing beer and owning a brewery. They thought to honor the program by inviting breweries that either were started by, employ graduates as brewers, or actively support the program to make the craft beer industry in Washington State better.
Breweries participating this year are:
- Anacortes Brewing, Anacortes WA
- Bastion Brewing, Anacortes WA
- Stones Throw Brewery, Fairhaven, WA
- Kulshan Brewing, Bellingham, WA
- Terramar, Edison, WA
- Farmstrong Brewing, Mount Vernon, WA
- Dru Bru, Snoqualmie Pass, WA
- Sound2Summit, Snohomish, WA
Taster Trays of all 8 beers will be available starting Thursday for just $16.
