For decades, this event has unofficially marked the start of winter beer season in Seattle
As we told you back in March, Rooftop Brewing assumed operations at Maritime Pacific Brewing. It was far from a hostile takeover; instead, it was a friendly arrangement that allowed Maritime’s owners to shift gears and retire while keeping the brewery’s lights on, the brand alive, and employees working. The brewery now produces Rooftop’s beers as well as Maritime Pacific’s beers. The beloved Jolly Roger Taproom remains essentially unchanged, though with a different selection of beers on tap.
The transition, as planned, has seen Rooftop Brewing continue to produce some Maritime Pacific Beers, most notably Old Seattle Lager and Jolly Roger Christmas Ale. Around Seattle, Jolly Roger is an iconic seasonal beer. It just wouldn’t be winter without the Jolly. Christmas is all about tradition, and this beer has marked the season since 1992.
The Event
This Friday, November 7th, from 5 – 11 pm, Rooftop Brewing invites you to a release party for this year’s Jolly Roger Christmas Ale. In addition to the current iteration, Rooftop will pour some vintage versions of the beer and serve some Jolly-inspired food specials.
“We will be serving vertical flights of Jolly with vintages that go as far back as 2010,” said Craig Christianson, co-founder of Rooftop Brewing. “We will also have this year’s version on tap, cask, and lots of 16-oz cans to take home. All our food specials will be cooked with Jolly. Lots of ways to Get Your Jollies!”
