“Over the past couple of months we’ve had the great pleasure of working with Nick and Jessie from Ladd & Lass Brewing, and Mike and Jason from Outer Dark Coffee to create a new beer together,” said the message from The Beer Junction. “We are excited to present Hallowed Grounds, a Coffee Dunkel!”

In building the beer, the collaborators spent an afternoon enjoying coffees from Outer Dark, a coffee roaster based in Tacoma. Mike Murphy, one of the founders of Outer Dark, is no stranger to the craft beer business. Among other things, Mike was one of the founders of Holy Mountain Brewing.
“We spent an afternoon cupping all the coffees that Outer Dark could bring and decided on a fantastic blend of their Form and Void espresso blend and El Puente natural process Colombian coffees.” The collaborators chose to use the Form and Void espresso blend on the hot side, during the initial brewing process. The El Puente was used on the cold side, during the lagering process.

“This beer is chock full of coffee flavor, but is still crushable and hits like a perfect afternoon iced coffee,” said The Beer Junction. “We’ll be releasing the beer to the world next Thursday, June 5th, and Outer Dark will be joining us to do a pour-over popup brewing cups of coffee from the blend they created for the beer! We’ll have bags of the blend for sale as well, plus the beer will be on tap and in cans to go… We can’t wait for you to try this beer – it’s going to be your favorite weekend afternoon pick me up/chill me out drink all Summer!”
Ladd & Lass Brewing will host its kickoff event on Saturday, June 7th, starting at 11:00. Outer Dark will be there, too, providing more pour-overs.
