Party This Sunday in Ballard, at Hilliard's Beer

This Sunday (September 16), Hilliard’s Beer, along with Epic Ales, is hosting a fundraiser for Tilted Thunder Rail Birds, a local roller derby league. The event takes place at the Hilliard’s Beer parking lot.

According to the Tilted Thunder website, “Tilted Thunder Rail Birds is a Seattle based, all-female, banked track roller derby league. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization run by a volunteer force of skaters and league members committed to promoting and raising awareness of women’s roller derby, especially banked track roller derby. TTRB is comprised of strong, friendly, intelligent, enthusiastic women from all walks of life pursuing emotional growth and physical strength by challenging their perceived limits. As a league, we also wish to promote mental and physical empowerment, development of skills, loyalty on and off the track, individuality, and friendship – throughout the entire sport, both locally and nationally.”

What sets Tilted Thunder apart is a banked track. “The modern reincarnation of community-based, Do-It-Yourself banked track roller derby is only just beginning to experience the kind of growth that flat-track roller derby saw only a few years ago. Not only are we the only modern banked track league in the Pacific Northwest, we are one of only a small handful of modern DIY banked track leagues in the country.”

Tilted Thunder Rail Birds are partnering up with Hilliard’s Beer and Epic Ales for the first annual “Banked & Brews’d” Beerfest Fundraiser!
Date: Sunday, September 16th
Time: 12pm-7pm
Location: Hilliard’s Beer parking lot, 1550 NW 49th St, Seattle, WA 98107
Cost: $15 covers admission, a commemorative cup and 4 beer tickets.
Non-Alcohol package: $5 for admission and 4 soda tickets.
