Not your grandpa’s hard seltzer from the folks at Bale Breaker

New venture infuses seltzer with cannabis.

You’ve heard this story before. The story of a prominent brewery branching out into the world of hard seltzer. The announcement yesterday from Bale Breaker Brewing is a riff on that same old song. No, actually, it’s a tangential jam session based loosely on that song. Like, if Wilco decided to start playing heavy metal, it wouldn’t just be more heavy metal, it would be a whole new thing.

Bale Breaker Brewing picked up a side hustle, Sungaze Cannabis Company. They’re growing cannabis on the family farm and using it in a new product, a spiked seltzer. The first product is Sungaze Lemon-Ginger Cannabis Seltzer. It contains THC, not just CBD.

“Spend a day at our family’s 4th generation hop farm, and you never know what you might find,” said yesterday’s statement on social media.

I don’t know about you, but that kind of makes me want to spend a day on the family farm. I mean, exactly what might I find happening between the towering rows of hops?

“The hops tend to steal the show, but there’s always more going on at Loftus Ranches,” said the announcement. “87 years after planting our first hops, we branched out on the Cannabaceae family tree with our first cannabis plants. We’re thrilled to introduce our newest venture: Sungaze Cannabis Company.”

Leota Mae Loftus, who founded the family farm back in 1932, would be proud of her great-grandchildren for making this bold move. Reportedly, she was something of a badass and grabbed the world by the ass and made it her own. And she did it in a day and age when it wasn’t easy or normal for a woman to do that. This move by Bale Breaker Brewing is not without risk. Surely it will raise some eyebrows. Like I said, I think Leota Mae would be proud.

The announcement continued, “After harvesting our first cannabis crop in 2019, and going through the same rigorous R&D process customers have come to know and trust from us, we’re finally debuting the first of our Sungaze Cannabis Seltzers, coming soon to a dispensary near you – be sure to ask your budtender to stock it!”

Sungaze Lemon-Ginger Cannabis Seltzer features 2.5mg of THC and 5mg of CBD per can. Want to find Sungaze near you? Follow @drinksungaze on Instagram or visit www.drinksungaze.com for info on where to find it, and keep an eye out for more releases from Sungaze Cannabis Company.

In introducing the product, they included the following disclaimer: “This product has intoxicating effects and may be habit forming. Marijuana may impair concentration, coordination and judgement. Do not operate machinery or a motor vehicle under the influence of this drug. There may be health risks associated with the consumption of this product. For use by adults only 21 and older. Please keep out of reach of children.”

I’d like to add, although the name is Sungazer, you should not stare at the sun. You’ll go blind.
