No-Li Brewhouse welcomes Charlie Papazian to Spokane for a meet-and-greet and book-signing event on October 25th. It’s free, but reservations are appreciated. Who is Charlie Papazian? He is one of the founding fathers of the American craft beer revolution and a deity in the world of homebrewing.
When homebrewing was in its infancy, in the 1980s, beer ingredients and brewing equipment were nearly impossible to find. Brewing was a challenge with few available resources. What homebrewers did have at their disposal was a book that many brewers still refer to as the homebrewer’s bible. Eager young homebrewers wandered in the darkness hoping to figure things out on their own, trying to follow the very vague instructions on the back of a can of John Bull malt extract. And then, like a bolt of lightning in a clear blue sky, The Complete Joy of Homebrewing, by Charlie Papazian, appeared and changed everything.
Beyond penning the definitive guide to homebrewing, Charlie founded the Association of Brewers and the Great American Beer Festival back in the 1980s. He also served as President of the Brewers Association for over 30 years. The world of beer as we know it today would not look the same if winemaking or some other hobby had captured Charlie’s attention.
It’s not too often that you have a chance to meet a legend like Charlie Papazian. On Friday, October 25th, Charlie pays a visit to No-Li Brewhouse in Spokane. You are invited. It’s a meet-n-greet and book-signing event, from 4:00 until 6:00.
