Seattle is about to get a new brewery. Cody Cluff, the person behind Gasworks Brewing and Magnuson Brewery, will open Green Lake Brewing in the former home of Wooden City Tavern across the street from Green Lake Park. Like his other Seattle locations, this one is lakeside or at least lake-adjacent. Puget Sound Business Journal broke the story yesterday.
Wooden City Tavern, located at 7110 East Green Lake Dr N, closed late last year. Cluff will open in the 5,000-square-foot space on April 7th, said a report on Hoodline. We will dig up more details soon, but apparently, the fact that it was already built and licensed as a restaurant and bar allowed for a quick turnaround. Reportedly, Green Lake Brewing will serve food along with house-brewed beer, cider, wine, and cocktails.
Cluff told the Business Journal that the building’s unique architecture creates an opportunity for an indoor-outdoor vibe. Of course, the location is iconic. It’s basically located at a place that some might call downtown Green Lake. Beer lovers will appreciate that it is just a couple of blocks from the Jellyfish Brewing taproom, located at 6808 East Green Lake Way N.
