New beers, and a new kind of beer, from Kulshan Brewing

Below I share some beer release news from Kulshan Brewing. This includes the introduction of Brewer’s Beer, a low-ABV, low-calorie cold IPA (pictured above). I’ve been slow to embrace things like non-alcoholic beer and low-calorie beer, which I assumed were just passing fads, but I’m smart enough to recognize when such trends show no sign of going away. Perhaps Brewer’s Beer is a compromise: 2.5 % ABV and just 100 calories per pint.

I haven’t heard of anything quite like this: daring to call a beer an IPA while also making it very low ABV. How DARE they! (Feigning outrage.) I trust that, although the ABV is very low, the beer offers some legitimate IPA character.

The name suggests that the brewery designed this beer to satisfy the cravings of the brewery’s staff, who presumably were looking for something tasty and also profoundly sessionable to drink at the end of a long day working in the brewery. Similar low-ABV creations have been dubbed shift beers. Here is the release info about that beer and the others straight from Kulshan Brewing.

Introducing Brewer’s Beer: a low-alcohol cold IPA. With only 2.5% ABV and 100 calories per pint, this delightful brew promises to satisfy your tastebuds, while keeping your alcohol intake in check! Brewer’s Beer is the ultimate light and crushable IPA. Featuring fruity hop notes and a crisp, refreshing bitterness, Brewer’s Beer is now available on draft at both taprooms!

Shucks on the Beach is back! Brewed in collaboration with our good friends at Taylor Shellfish, this Helles Bock Lager is lightly spiced with pink peppercorns, coriander, and Himalayan sea salt, resulting in a delightfully balanced and refreshing beer. The 2022 Barrel-Aged Kitten Mittens is now available in bottles! This year’s vintage is a blend of barrels we filled in the spring of 2022, from our friends at @steindistillery. The result is smooth, complex, and warming. Big notes of chocolate, cherry, and dark stone fruit dominate in both the flavor and aroma, along with accents of coffee, toffee, and vanilla. The 2022 Barrel Aged Kitten Mittens is now available in bottles at both taprooms and our online store!

Rye U A Drink is a crisp and easy-drinking Rye Lager. Rye and spelt malt contribute bready and spicy malt complexity, while German hops balance out the slight sweetness with floral and herbal notes. Rye U A Drink is now available on draft at both Kulshan locations!
