Mountain’s Out IPA, the newest beer from Seattle’s Pike Brewing

“The mountain is out.” Either you know what that means or you don’t. Either you’re from around here or you’re not. Maybe you’re just new. That’s okay, too. Around Seattle, it how we say, “The weather is nice today.” It’s hard to believe it took so long for someone to apply the age-old idiom to a Seattle-brewed beer, but it’s fitting that one of the city’s most iconic breweries finally did. Mountain’s Out IPA is the latest offering from Pike Brewing, and it’s an all-Washington beer.

Fittingly, Pike Brewing used nothing but Washington-grown ingredients to fashion Mountain’s Out IPA. The malt bill includes Lyon Pilsner, Stingray Wheat, Ajay Oat Malt, Puprle Egyptian Pale, and Genie Pale from LINC Malt, a boutique malt producer based in Spokane Valley, Washington. The hops were grown by Roy Farms in Moxee, Washington, and supplied by Yakima Chief Hops. The hop bill includes Mosaic, Cashmere, and Azacca hops.

Pike Brewing will release the beer on April 8th. It will be available on draft and in cans at select bars and beer retailers around the region. Of course, you’ll be able to enjoy it at any of Pike Brewing’s three locations in Seattle. Here is the release announcement from the brewery.

As the Pacific Northwest emerges from winter’s grasp, Pike Brewing invites craft beer enthusiasts to embark on an outdoor adventure (be it Type 1 or Type 2 fun) with Mountain’s Out in tow. Chalk up that first hike with friends through the Cascades, dust off the kayak for a paddle on Lake Union or simply kick back with a view of The Mountain as a daydreaming backdrop to a refreshing Mountain’s Out IPA. Bursting with vibrant flavors and aromas, this distinctive brew captures the shared excitement and essence of springtime in the Evergreen State.

True to Pike’s spirit of promoting diversity and inclusion, Pike Brewing will be highlighting various organizations in Washington whose focus is encouraging less represented communities to recreate outdoors. In addition, we will be hosting a fundraiser on April 14th at Pike Pub supporting SheJumps as well as providing round-up donations throughout the month of April in support of the organization’s mission to increase the participation of women in outdoor activities.
