Lucky Envelope celebrates its heritage starting May 6th

The founders of Lucky Envelope Brewing are proud of their Asian ancestry. They’ve never shied away from their Asian-American heritage; rather, they embrace it and bring their cultural perspective into the brewhouse. Beer drinkers, often fueled by an endless quest for new and interesting beer flavors, respond by embracing the culturally inspired character that Lucky Envelope Brewing adds to many of its beers.

Starting Friday, May 6th Lucky Envelope Brewing celebrates AANHPI Heritage Month. It’s a long acronym that stands for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander. Along with the events and beers listed below, Lucky Envelope Brewing will donate a portion of the month’s proceeds to the Seattle chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association and to the Very Asian Foundation. (I encourage you to follow those links and learn more about those important organizations.)

The kick-off event is Friday, May 6th. Here is the complete list of events and the beer release lineup that Lucky Envelope Brewing put together for AANHPI Heritage Month, starting with the kickoff event Friday, May 6th.

Beer Descriptions

Beer: Mango Sour with Guava and Li Hing Mui (5.7% ABV)

Availability: Available Friday, May 6th on Draft and 4-Pack Cans ($20)

Description: Take your taste buds on a tropical getaway with our golden kettle sour brewed with hundreds of pounds of mango and guava topped with li hing mui. Li hing mui is a sweet-sour-salty Hawaiian treat made from salted dried Chinese plums; the beloved powder is sprinkled generously on snacks like fresh fruit, shave ice, and gummy candies.

Beer: Pineapple Li Hing Mui Sour (5.7% ABV)

Availability: Available Friday, May 6th on Draft-Only

Description: Originating in China and extremely popular in Hawaii, Li Hing Mui—literally translated as “traveling plum” or “walking plum”— is dried salted plum. This sour-salty plum powder adds a flavorful pucker to our light sour base brewed with bright pineapple puree.

Beer: Ube Coconut Cream Stout (6% ABV)

Availability: Available Saturday, May 14th on Draft-Only

Description: The roasty dark malts of our Cream Stout meet freshly toasted coconut and ube, a purple yam with origins in the Philippines. Lactose and flaked oats add a smooth creaminess that pair wonderfully with ube’s vanilla-like, slightly nutty flavor.

Beer: Water Tiger Cold IPA collaboration with Highland Brewing (6.7% ABV)

Availability: Available Friday, May 20th on Draft and 4-Pack Cans ($20)

Description: It has returned! Happy AANHPI Heritage Month from Highland Brewing and Lucky Envelope Brewing! This Cold IPA brewed with Seattle’s Marketspice Berry Bush tea marks the third annual Seattle-Asheville zodiac collaboration. Late and dry hop additions of juicy El Dorado hops accentuate the honeybush tea with raspberry, strawberry, and lemongrass.

Beer: Two Pepper Pale Ale (6% ABV)

Availability: Available Saturday, May 28th on Draft-Only

Description: Brewed to celebrate the bold pepper flavors of the fruity Habanero and the citrusy Japanese Shishito, with a tiny kiss of heat. This beer packs big pepper aroma and flavor with just enough spice to make you want to kick back and relax on a sunny summer day.
