Loyal Legion is Coming to Downtown Vancouver This Spring

Downtown Vancouver is becoming quite the hotbed for craft beer. The city is just across the river from one of craft beer’s premier destinations; as a result, it often gets overlooked because of its proximity to Portland. Everyone needs to recognize that, in recent years, downtown Vancouver has emerged as a walkable, delicious beer destination in its own right. Now, we share news that Oregon-based Loyal Legion plans to open this spring in downtown Vancouver, adding to the growing beer culture.

The location is at 1109 Washington Street, the former home of the Heathen Brewing Feral Public House. It boasts a 5,000-square-foot taproom and an equally large patio. Loyal Legion tells The Oregonian that a remodel of the space will expose 22-foot-high ceilings. Also, a large kitchen will allow for a larger menu than at other Loyal Legion locations.

The city of Vancouver has pledged to bring its downtown area to life. Not that it was dead before, but there is a lot of new energy and development happening down there. Some of this development has included beer, with Vice Beer, Brothers Cascadia Brewing, Ruse Brewing, and Breakside Brewery opening new outposts. (We’ll publish a separate story about that soon.) Some of this development, such as construction to eventually make the corridor more walkable, has negatively impacted local beer businesses, such as Little Vice. But the goal is a good one: make downtown a place where people can safely and efficiently wander and enjoy the beer, food, and shopping. HANG IN THERE, LITTLE VICE!

The plan is to open in April, but first, starting as early as February, Loyal Legion will host pop-up events showcasing beer from Washington breweries, some of which rarely distribute to the Vancouver area. Loyal Legion currently operates three beer-focused bars. One in Portland, one in Beaverton, and the third at the PDX Airport. At each, it offers dozens upon dozens of local craft beers on tap. The company’s stated mission is to showcase local beer. To date, that’s meant a strong focus on Oregon-brewed beers. Now, that definition will expand to include more local Vancouver beers and local Washington beers.

Here is the official announcement about the Loyal Legion opening in Vancouver.

Loyal Legion Announces Expansion Into Vancouver, Washington

Vancouver, WA — Loyal Legion, currently operating thriving locations in SE Portland, Beaverton, and PDX Airport, is excited to announce the opening of its newest beer hall in Downtown Vancouver, Washington. The new location, set to open Spring 2026 at 1109 Washington St, Vancouver, WA 98660 (formerly Feral Public House), marks the brand’s fourth home in the Pacific Northwest.

“We feel unbelievably lucky to have met Sunny Parsons, the owner of Heathen Brewing, right as he was thinking about selling his building. When I told him his building would be beyond perfect for our first State of Washington Loyal Legion, he loved the idea and we worked quickly on buying into the building and working as partners on the remodel.  Once we removed the 50+ year old drop down ceiling we realized what an amazing building this was and I think we’re going to end up with the best looking Loyal Legion we’ve ever built.  We will be landscaping the huge outdoor patio as well so the entire inside and outside will be brand new and ready for our Spring time opening. We cannot wait to be a part of everything that is happening in Vancouver and our beer buying team is really looking forward to working with Washington’s unbelievable craft breweries.”

Loyal Legion looks forward to becoming a proud member of the Vancouver community and contributing to the ongoing revitalization along Washington Street and the downtown core.
