Local Boys Tap Room, 7th Anniversary weekend is underway

This weekend, Local Boys Tap Room commemorates its 7th anniversary and you are invited. Actually, the party already started. The taplist includes a bunch of super-hopped beers brewed for Washington Hop Mob, as well as four barlwines, a dozen barrel-aged beers, and five beers from Bob’s secret stash.

Seven years ago, a couple of guys pieced together a taproom using pallet boards and sheet metal. Bob and Trevor admit that the original lighting was “unfortunate,” but Local Boys Tap Room was born just outside of Gig Harbor near the Purdy Spit.

A lot has changed since then. They’ve added 30 more taps for a total of 50. They also added coolers offering 11-door’s-worth of cans and bottles. Also, better seating, outdoor seating, and better lighting. Of those 50 taps, the plan usually involves at least 40 taps dedicated to Washington-brewed beers. In 2018, Local Boys opened a second location (Bremerton).

The party starts now — Friday, February 10th. It runs through the weekend. Bob and Trevor will be behind the bar for the entire event so you can ask them about that unfortunate lighting, or just extend your congratulations. Dozens of breweries will send representatives to talk about their beer and hand out some swag. Bring your own food or pick up stuff from the nearby Taco Truck or the Thai place next door.

Each year for the anniversary celebration Bob puts together a special taplist that “dances between aggressive and sadistic.”
