In like a lamb, out like a lion, March is busy at the Beveridge Place Pub

From the mild to the massive

March is busy at the Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle. Of special concern to aficionados of really bold brews, it’s time for Barleywine Bacchanal. Also, embrace the mildness, welcome some friends from Hood River, and enjoy some monastic treasures. Here’s what’s up this month at the Bev.

Embrace the Mildness

Like many other pubs around the Seattle area and across the region, all month, Beveridge Place Pub is taking part in March Mildness this year. The annual event, organized by Machine House Brewery, sees pubs pour the brewery’s English-style mild ale for the entire month. Pub patrons use punchcards to track their mildness and earn swag. On top of that, whichever pub sells the most mild pints wins the opportunity to brew a special beer with Machine House Brewery. Last year, Beveridge Place Pub earned that honor. Help them defend the title.

Thursday, March 12 through Sunday, March 15th — BARLEYWINE BACCHANAL!

Mild, yes, but March is also about the wild, the bold, and the burliest of all beer styles. Barleywine Bacchanal returns to Beveridge Place Pub for its 24th year. To commemorate the 24th year, they’ll have 24 barleywines on tap. Actually, I don’t think the anniversary has anything to do with it: the pub always goes bonkers for barleywine this time of year. Enjoy taster flights of barleywines from near and far, locally made Bunyanesque beers to British-born behemoth brews. Get a taster tray (encouraged) or order a full pour of your favorite.

pFriem Family Brewers Night, March 19th

The highly acclaimed brewery from Hood River is headed north for an event at Beveridge Place Pub from 6-8 pm. Many people are familiar with the brewery’s mainstay beers, but the night will also offer a chance to sample lesser-known offerings. The stuff for which the brewery really earns its cred. The Beveridge Place will pour:

  • Czech Lager
  • Krush WC IPA
  • Mosaic Pale
  • Export Stout
  • Vermouth Barrel-aged Rye Imperial Brown
  • Frambozen Raspberry Sour

Trappists on Tap! Thursday, March 26th

Finish the month with some monk-ish beers. That is, beers brewed by monks. The Beveridge Place will pour beers from a nice selection of Belgian (and English) monastic breweries! Tasty treats from Rochefort, Westmalle, Chimay, and the first kegs from Tynt Meadow!
