Hopworks Urban Brewery releases one for the bees

By now, I think that everyone who gives a damn about anything important knows about the disturbing decline in bee populations around the world and how that decline impacts our food ecosystem. Well, Hopworks Urban Brewery of Portland, Oregon is stepping up to support an initiative to protect honey bee populations. It involves a new year-round beer.

Hopworks Urban Brewery created Beestly Organic Honey Porter to help raise awareness of the important role that pollinators play in our food supply chain. Here is the press release with all the info.

Celebration to be held at the HUB Mothership April 1

PORTLAND, Ore. Mar. 30, 2021 —Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), the first B Corp brewery in the Pacific Northwest, has officially launched its new, gold medal award-winning Beestly Organic Honey Porter. “We couldn’t be more stoked to work with GloryBee to make this beer a part of their Save The Bee initiative,” said Matt Speckenbach, Head Brewer at Hopworks. “We wanted to create a brew that would be unique and tasty, and that could also help to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators to the food supply.”

GloryBee estimates that one-third of our diet is currently derived from plants that require pollination, and in the US, honeybees are responsible for 80% of agricultural pollination.
