HOPvemberfest Round 2, the Elite 8, at Beveridge Place Pub

What is HOPvemberfest, you ask? It is how Beveridge Place Pub decides which beer will be the regular, always-on-tap IPA for the coming year. It’s a pretty lucrative outcome for the winning brewery. The Bev pours a lot of IPA. The pub’s customers make the decision in a tournament-style competition. Now, HOPvemberfest is about to move on to Round Two.

Your mission is to visit the pub during November and cast a ballot for whichever Washington-brewed IPA you think deserves the honor. Starting at the first of the month, the taplist includes scads of IPAs for your consideration. The Beveridge Place Pub offers taster trays for side-by-side evaluation. One ballot per customer per day. Top vote-getters eventually advance.

They just completed round one, which is sort of like the first weekend of March Madness. The votes have been tallied. We now know which breweries/beers will move onto the elite eight. Starting tomorrow (November 21st) you can vote for one of the following beers:

  • Bale Breaker Brewing – Topcutter IPA
  • Boundary Bay Brewery – Cedar Dust IPA
  • Georgetown Brewing – Bodhizafa IPA
  • Good Society Brewery – Welcome to Alki, Beaches IPA
  • Logan Brewing – Fire Temple IPA
  • Stemma Brewing – West Coast IPA
  • Stoup Brewing – Citra IPA
  • Talking Cedar Brewing – PNW IPA

Once this round is complete, Beveridge Place Pub moves on to the final four. Once that happens, the Washington Beer Blog encourages people to ask for a blind taster tray and set aside their preconceptions. Vote for whichever one you truly, blindly enjoy the most.
