On Monday, November 17, Schooner Exact Brewing releases this year’s version of Hoppy the Woodsman, the company’s popular barrel-aged winter beer. This year’s batch was aged for five months in Heaven Hill Kentucky Bourbon barrels. The beer clocks in at 8 percent ABV and 52 IBUs.

Schooner Exact describes the beer as “A rich-oak aged beer with a light hop note and strong toasty malt character. Aroma results from the seamless blend of vanilla, caramel, brandied cherry and Yakima Valley hops. Flavors of caramel and oak are offset by the warmth of alcohol. A perfect winter warmer that is well balanced to the end.”

Along with Hoppy the Woodsman, the brewery will also release a new beer: Bitter Beer Face Double IPA (8 percent ABV and 95 IBU). Also, Schooner Exact will release its other winter seasonal beer, Hoppy Holiday Winter Ale.

Changes in the Kitchen and Bar
Having just celebrated the second anniversary of adding a kitchen to the taproom, Schooner Exact announced that it is adding an Oyster night. Each Wednesday, starting at 3:00, they will offer a chef’s choice oyster option.
