Hellbent Brewing releasing GateCity IPA to benefit the community

North Helpline is a non-profit organization that provides essential services for its community. Each year, Hellbent Brewing teams up with area businesses to release GateCity IPA, a beer to benefit North Helpline. In addition to being a philanthropic beer, it is also an award-winning beer.

This year the brewery releases the beer as part of Seattle Beer Week. The beer will be available at the brewery as well as a number of local bars in the Northgate and Lake City area (GateCity).

Here is more information about the project, the beer, and its availability. From Hellbent Brewing:

This is the fourth time we’ve made this beer to raise money for the charity North Helpline, a poverty assistance and food bank service right across the street from our brewery. Their essential work is summed up by their motto:

“We believe that all deserve adequate food, housing, and respect. We assist our neighbors in obtaining basic needs that affirm their human dignity and worth.”

Watershed Pub & Kitchen, North Helpline, and Hellbent Brewing all came together again to create a beer and an event that support our neighborhood–the Northgate and Lake City communities (hence “GateCity IPA”). A host of local bars and restaurants are participating to make the GateCity IPA project come to life. At every location during Seattle Beer Week (May 7th-May 16th), $1 per pint of GateCity IPA will be donated to North Helpline.

Another reason to check out this beer is that in 2018, at the Washington Beer Awards, GateCity IPA won the gold medal in the American Style IPA category!! It’s brewed with all Washington hops, including an aggressive amount of Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops from the Yakima Valley. This beer is a pale IPA with gentle bready overtones from the malt and vibrant mango, papaya, citrus and pine aromas from the hops.

ABV 7.3%
62 IBU
