It seems like only yesterday that the Latona Pub was the only place to go for good beer in Seattle. When Bob Brenlin opened the Latona Pub back in 1987 he set a standard. A lot has changed over the past 25 years concerning the Seattle beer scene and thankfully we now have a lot of good beer joints around town. However, what it means to be “a good beer bar” is still defined in large part by how an establishment compares to the Latona. The Latona Pub is just that good.
It is a gem. It is both a beer destination and a beloved neighborhood pub. It is cherished and respected, yet humble and inviting. The Latona politely screams, “No attitude, just beer.” In short, it’s awesome. I hate using the word awesome, but my reverence leaves me short on words and a bit verklempt, to be honest.
The Latona Pub is celebrating its 25th Anniversary the only way it knows how: it is hosting six days of outstanding beer events. The fun starts on Monday, August 13th and runs through Saturday, August 18th. Local breweries have been producing special beers to commemorate the occasion all year. Starting in January, a new anniversary beer was tapped at the pub each month. North Sound Brewing, Rogue Ales, Black Raven Brewing, Sound Brewery, Anacortes Brewing, Schooner Exact Brewing, Naked City Brewing, and Double Mountain Brewing all provided special brews to show their respect.
It was all leading up to this: nearly a week of exceptional beer events at the Latona Pub culminating with an official Anniversary Party on Saturday. Here is the list of events.
