We’ve been tracking the progress of the Fremont Brewing Company since February. We followed them as the brewery was constructed, the first beer was brewed, and the first pints poured. Now, they’ll be going on tap at the Latona Pub.
On Monday, August 17th, the Latona Pub will host the first Fremont brewers night (first we’ve heard of). While Fremont Brewing Company’s beer is available elsewhere around town, this is a “coming out” party of sorts. The Latona is one of the oldest and most beloved great beer bars in the city.
For a young brewery, getting a handle at the Latona means that you have arrived. That is not a knock on Brouwer’s, the Barking Dog, the Dray, the Duck Island, or any of the other fine establishments that have poured Fremont’s Universale Pale Ale. Matt Lincecum and his crew at Fremont Brewing have done a great job of distrubuting their beer and many great pubs have poured it; however, I imagine there is a certain sumpin’ sumpin’ about being able to say, “My beer is on tap at the Latona.”
The festivities get underway at the Latona on Monday night at 7:00. We will be there. You should be too.
