Winter has arrived at Kulshan Brewing in Bellingham, with two new beers and the spirit of giving.

There is nothing inherently wintery about a West Coast IPA. That is unless you team up with the folks from the local ski area to brew it, which is what Kulshan Brewing did to create Last Chair IPA. There is, on the other hand, something very wintery about a beer named Royal Tannenbaum, an annually released “tree-forward” beer that clocks in at 9 percent ABV. Of course, this is also the season of giving, and Kulshan is helping in that regard by hosting a fundraiser for a local non-profit organization (happening right now!).

Here are all the details straight from the brewery.

The Last Chair

Last Chair was brewed with snow on the brain. This west coast IPA is bursting with hop notes of citrus, berry and tropical fruits. A collaboration with The Mount Baker Ski Area, Last Chair IPA is your reward after a long day on the slopes. 6.5% ABV // 60 IBU

Oh Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum…

Ripe with festive spirit, this year’s Royal Tannenbaum is balanced and clean, with just enough spice and warming alcohol notes to keep you warm on these cold, dark days. More tree-forward and bold than last year’s Royal, this year’s boasts intense notes of fir, pine and pithy citrus, followed by resinous and slightly lingering hop bitterness.

A treat we get to experience but once a year, Royal Tannenbaum is not for the faint of heart, but warmly rewards those who dare to enter it’s realm. 9% ABV // 46 IBU
