Production is leaving town, taproom is closing at the end of February

Yesterday’s news caught many people off guard, including longtime employees at Seattle Cider Company. Without knowing what was happening behind the scenes, it was hard for me to digest the news that Seattle Cider, a rare bright spot in the otherwise gloomy landscape of the alco-bev industry, was being acquired by 2 Towns Cider.

The saddest, most unfortunate part of the news was the now-confirmed report that Seattle Cider Company would move out of Seattle, transferring production to 2 Towns Cider’s facility in Corvallis, Oregon. This is a tough pill to swallow for all of the employees at Seattle Cider, some of whom have worked for the company for a decade or more.

The Seattle Cider Taproom, previously known as The Woods and previously home to both Seattle Cider and Two Beers Brewery, will permanently close, with the final day slated for February 28, 2026.

I, for one, have many fond memories in that building. From the original taproom, which was little more than a kegerator in the brewery, to the second, larger space, to the vision coming fully to fruition in what is now the taproom. It has been a ride, and I am sad to see it come to an end.

Here is the announcement from Seattle Cider Company that appeared on social media today.

“Seattle Cider Company is joining the 2 Towns Ciderhouse family! As the most award-winning cidery in Washington, joining the most decorated cidery in Oregon is a move that allows Seattle Cider to continue growing with the same commitment to fresh-pressed apples, innovation, and quality craft. Our aim has always been to be a distinct visionary leader known for creating superior cider, and we have no doubt that 2 Towns will continue that legacy.”

“We are proud 2 Towns respects the brand we’ve poured our hearts and souls into building. We’ve always tried to do right by the PNW and are confident that 2 Towns will carry that same spirit and commitment forward.”

“As part of this transition, production will move to 2 Town’s Ciderhouse in Corvallis, OR, which means we will be closing our SODO cidery and Seattle Cider Taproom. Our final day of taproom service will be Thursday, February 26.”

“We’re incredibly grateful for the community that has filled this space over the years, and we’d love to raise a glass with you before we close our Taproom doors one last time. Please come visit us, share a cider, and help us celebrate everything Seattle Cider Taproom has meant to Seattle.”

“While Seattle Cider Taproom may be closing, the cider lives on, and we’re endlessly thankful for the incredible folks who helped shape this brand.”

“Thank you for being part of our story; we’ll see you in the next chapter!’
