Tacoma’s Engine House Number 9 Restaurant and Brewery invites you to the E9 Winter Invitational, a winter beer event that doesn’t feature winter beers. The event offers you a chance to drink beer with the hard working people who make it. The E9 Winter Invitational happens on Friday, November 18th, starting at 5:00 PM.
The event takes place within the cozy confines of the Engine House Number 9 historical firehouse. You might expect this to be yet another winter beer festival, but E9 is mixing things up and this year the event will feature American Pale Ales – hoppy, golden, mid-to-low ABV, mid-to-mildly bitter beers from each of the participating breweries. Let’s face it, a well-crafted pale ale goes down good any time of year.
The event features beers from a mix of Washington Breweries, all of whom happen to be personal friends and colleagues of the crew at Engine House Number 9. See the list of breweries below. The beers poured at the event include beers that don’t normally make it into the market (outside of their taprooms), special pilot brews made specifically for the event, and the gold and silver meda-winning American Pale Ales from this year’s Washington State Beer Awards.
As an aside, I’m going to take this event as a sign that my prediction is coming true. I have predicted that American Pale Ale will challenge IPA in popularity within a few years. I have my reasons and I won’t bore you with them here. I could be wrong, but the only time I was ever wrong was the one time I thought I wasn’t right.
