Dirty Couch Brewing is closing but not necessarily closing

This summer, the brewery is set to close, but it is not the end of the story

Because the landlord wants to use the space for something else, Dirty Couch Brewing recently learned that its lease will not be renewed. It has now announced plans to shut down its Fort Street location in Seattle this summer (2715 W Fort St, Seattle, WA 98199). Things are challenging enough in the beer industry these days; it is not helpful when landlords jack the rent or make other plans for the property that a brewery calls home. Alas, as property owners, they have the right to do so.

The brewery says it is grateful to all customers who have supported the brewery and taproom over the years, as well as to the Magnolia community for its support. Keep an eye on the brewery’s social media channels as it plans to announce farewell events and share its future plans.

“We are sad to announce that Dirty Couch Brewing’s Fort St. taproom in Magnolia will be closing permanently this summer,” said the brewery on social media. “Our lease ends in July 2026, and the new property owner wants to occupy the space with his own business, so will not be extending our lease. Our Fort St. location has served us well over the years, and got so many through the dark days of COVID with some lasting patio memories.”

This does not necessarily mark the end for Dirty Couch Brewing. “In the months ahead, we’ll be hosting farewell events to celebrate our time at Fort St. Details will be announced soon,” said the brewery. “We’ll also be clearing out a lot of inventory, and we’re hoping our amazing community and dedicated regulars can help us send this place off the right way.”

What’s next for Dirty Couch Brewing?

“We’re exploring options for a new home for our taproom and brew space. It’s a tough landscape for craft beer right now, and we’ve seen other beloved breweries forced to close due to leases, rising rents/costs, and a wider industry slowdown. Still, we’re not done dreaming. We’ll share updates as we have them.

“Please stop by to say hi, raise a glass, and help us make a few more Fort St. memories together.
Keep an eye on our socials for event announcements, general updates, and our official closing date. Thank you for all of your support and helping us become a big part of the Magnolia community. We love you, Magnolia.”
