An American brewery, a Japanese brewery, and an old-world European-style lager
Chuckanut Brewery announces the release of Gold Label Czech Pilsner. This collaboration beer, brewed with Japan’s Yokohama Bay Brewery, was chosen as an official lager for the Japan Brewers Cup, which takes place in Yokohama, Japan on February 6th through 8th. Chuckanut’s brewery friends in Japan will offer the Gold Label Pilsner before, during, and after the festival at locations across Tokyo, Yokohama, and beyond. The beer is also available on tap and in cans in Washington, Oregon, and California.
“This premium Czech-Style Pilsner balances rich, bready malts with spicy Saaz hops,” said the release announcement from Chuckanut Brewery. “It delivers a crisp and refreshing finish with a distinctive floral bitterness. More body and malty flavors than either Chuckanut’s or Yokohama’s World Beer Cup Gold Medal-winning Bohemian Pilsners.”

Owner and beermaster for Yokohama Bay, Shinya Suzuki believes Will Kemper, owner and brewmaster of Chuckanut, to be an important influence and mentor in his growth as a brewer of lagers and specifically pilsner beers. They’ve remained friends over the years by sharing their love of great lager beers.”
Gold Label Czech Pilsner was brewed with Pilsner and Carafoam malts. The hop bill included Saaz and Tettnanger hops. Chuckanut Brewery says the beer pairs well with Fish and Chips or grilled lemon-herb chicken. “Refreshingly thirst-quenching on its own, try it while still on tap and in cans, and enjoy a well-crafted pilsner beer!”
