Chuckanut Brewery introduces the next collaboration beer brewed on its 10-barrel system in Burlington. The brewery created a dark czech-style lager in collaboration with an old friend, Austin Beer Garden Brewery (ABGB), of Austin, Texas.
Most of Chuckanut’s beers are produced on its larger system. “Small” is a relative term in craft beer, but the smaller-to-them, 10-barrel system is the original equipment used at the brewery in Bellingham, which closed in 2021. Not long ago, Chuckanut Brewery recommissioned and installed the 10-barrel system at its production facility in Burlington, WA. It now lives alongside the larger system where Chuckanut uses it to produce special beers, like this one and a previous collaboration beer brewed with Aslan Brewing.
“This very traditional Czech lager is a smooth, complex beer with dark toasted bread, toffee and chocolate notes. Dark brown in color CBGB lager finishes dry, roasty and clean,” said the release announcement from Chuckanut Brewery. “It’s a delicious beer to have with roasted pork, chicken with mushroom sauce or any grilled vegetables. It’s also lovely with desserts and chocolates.”
“Chuckanut and ABGB have been friends for many years as both breweries met at the GABF where they are known for their well-made, classic lager beers that have won multiple GABF (Great American Beer Festival) and World Beer Cup medals. Many years ago the two breweries collaborated on a lager in Austin named “Will you Mari me”, a pun on the names of Chuckanut owners/brewmaster and ABGB. That beer was a light-colored lager but this time around the two breweries decided to make something dark and malty. Look for Chuckanut Czech-Style Dark Lager on draft and in cans around the Pacific Northwest.”
Chuckanut Brewery brews award winning Lagers and Ales and has won Large Brewery of the Year at WA Beer Awards 2017, 2019 and 2021 and Small Brewery at the GABF 2009 & 2011. The production facility and Tap Room is in Skagit Valley at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington, WA. Chuckanut welcomes guests of all ages and has indoor and outdoor seating!
