Charging Hippo Brewing is bent on its plan to become the first brewery in Shoreline. Not just up there, north of Seattle, but actually in the city of Shoreline. To that end, they’ve been shopping for viable commercial space for the past year and a half. As of yet, they’ve been unsuccessful, but now they just want to get brewing. So that’s what they’re doing.
“We’ve been looking for a space for the past 1 1/2 years in the Shoreline area,” said Kyle Stevens of Charging Hippo Brewing. “Though we are determined to become Shoreline’s first brewery in the city proper, we’ve decided to go ahead and start brewing small batches to introduce ourselves to the Seattle market with an event during Seattle Beer Week (too be announced) leading up to finding a more permanent location.”
Today Charging Hippo is brewing its first batch of Zombie Jesus Imperial Porter, which is brewed with Cadbury Creme Eggs and Peeps. They just lunched a new website yesterday.
For now, Charging Hippo is brewing at Justice Brewing in Everett, with that brewery licensing the Charging Hippo brand. Kyle says, “Nate [at Justice Brewing] has been a friend for the past few years and true to the reputation of the craft-beer community, has gone out of his way to help us out and be a resource. He’s been generous in offering to let us use his facilities to bring Charging Hippo to the public quicker than we could have otherwise, and I’m excited for the opportunity to share our beer soon.”
As soon as they find a space in Shoreline, they can finish up the process of licensing and opening a brewery of their own. According to Kyle, “I’m confident that, with the on-going support of the city and their enthusiasm, it’s only a matter of time.”
Congratulations to Charging Hippo and all involved! This is an exciting step forward toward your goal! You’ve got my love and support.
Huge congrats to all involved in getting this awesome venture off the ground and running!
Can’t wait to sip a brew from you <3 sending you good vibes and well wishes on your dream venture.
I am so VERY excited that a brewery will be opening in Shoreline – there’s always been this great VOID between Seattle and Snohomish County! I’ll be your biggest fan!
