More than a beer, the occasion calls for a celebration. Come unwind and rewind at The Beer Junction. An invitation to drift happily back in time.

The Beer Junction releases its 12th Anniversary Beer this Thursday, June 30th. It’s called Junction Rewind IPA and it invites you to rewind that mixtape to find your favorite 80s song. Rewind that VHS tape to find that classic scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Rewind your mind to a time when IPAs were not hazy. Okay, that one has nothing to do with the 80s. Whatever. Rewind to a time when you’d never heard the word COVID. Just rewind.

Junction Rewind is a West Coast IPA brewed at Old Schoolhouse Brewery. The anniversary beer features a glorious conglomeration of hops: Loral, Citra Cryo, Simcoe, HBC 630, and HBC 586 Cryo.

The beer’s name and label artwork is a nod to a shared love of 1980s nostalgia. The beer releases at 5:00 on Thursday, June 30th. It will be available in cans and on draft. Also, The Beer Junction will celebrate with 80s-themed music and movies all week.

Rewind 12 years, more or less

It’s been one hell of a ride for West Seattle’s beloved beer emporium. The Beer Junction opened 12 years ago in a small space around the corner in a building that no longer exists. It quickly gained popularity and soon moved up the street to a larger space along California Avenue in downtown West Seattle. With a huge bottle selection, a massive tap selection, a fun cast of regulars, and creative special events, it was and remains a great place to fulfill all your beer requirements.

Then in early 2020, just when we all started to hear rumors about a virus, Morgan Herzog, the founder and impresario behind The Beer Junction, passed away from Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer. For those of us who called him a friend, the fact that the pandemic prevented us from gathering together to share our grief and celebrate his life was a brutal punch in the gut.

Morgan’s wife and business partner, Allison, picked up the yoke and carried on. She put her heartache aside and fought through all the turbulence and strife that the pandemic dished out. As if either one of those things was not difficult enough, she battled through them both. The Beer Junction survived. Thank God!

So yeah, Rewind IPA. Nothing wrong with a little rewind now and again. Cheers to the Beer Junction. Cheers to the memories and cheers to all that’s still to come!
