Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Latona Pub and Lucky Envelope

Latona Pub just announced that it will host a Lunar New Year feast pairing food with beers from Lucky Envelope Brewing on Monday, January 30th. Chef Brian Mar will create dishes reflecting his Chinese-American heritage and serve them alongside beers from Lucky Envelope Brewing, which is one of just a handful of breweries in the nation with Asian-American owners.

The pub in Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood opened in the earliest days of the craft beer revolution and has remained fiercely loyal to the craft brewing industry since the beginning. Hosting beer and food pairing events like this has long been a tradition at Latona Pub, but because of the pandemic, this is the first such event in three years.

You can find more information about the event on Latona Pub’s Instagram page. Also, all the details are in the event press release below.

From Latona Pub:

Latona Pub Hosts Lucky Envelope Brewing for Lunar New Year Feast Seattle, WA: Monday, January 30th, the Latona Pub, longtime neighborhood craft beer restaurant, will help cap off Lucky Envelope Brewing’s week-long Lunar New Year event by hosting a 5-course Lunar New Year Feast. Each course has been carefully crafted by Chef Brian Mar to reflect his Chinese American experience through Lunar New Year inspired pub food and will be paired with seasonal beers from Lucky Envelope.

This event presents a unique experience for craft beer aficionados and foodies to make a connection between the beer they drink, the food they’re served, and the people who produce both. In preparing the menu, Chef Brian drew inspiration from his favorite childhood Lunar New Year dishes and combined them with the American pub experience with dishes like Szechuan Bolognese and a Shio Koji pastrami green onion pancake roll.

The award-winning Lucky Envelope is one of the few Chinese-owned breweries in the country. Focused on culturally inspired beer, they brew using both modern and historic techniques often incorporating non-traditional ingredients such as Buddha’s Hand, yuzu, chai spices, and tea. The brewery first came to prominence in 2015 when it won bronze at the Great American Beer Festival for its Helles lager.
