Brewers from across the West, and around the world, are coming to Spokane to share their beer and celebrate the region’s grain harvest

The event happens on Friday, August 11th at YaYa Brewing in Spokane. GRAINMMAKER, a Festival of Barley and Beer is co-hosted by LINC Malt and Cold Stream Malt & Grain. The purpose is to celebrate the harvest of grains grown in the Inland NW region.

The list of participants includes U.S. breweries from Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Also, international guests from Mexico and China (see list below). The beer list includes special collaboration beers brewed by those breweries.

A statement from the GRAINMAKER organizers describes it as, “A beer festival showcasing breweries working with Inland NW-grown grains will be hosted at YaYa Brewing Company from 3-9 pm on Friday, August 11. Ten beers will be poured, with each release brewed specially for the event as collaborations between participating breweries.”

The participating breweries are visiting the region to experience the local grain harvest and they’re bringing beer with them. Organizers say that the brewers were invited to participate based on “their excellence in beer-making and contributions to the emergence of the Inland Northwest region as a premier producer of grains specialized for use in craft beer.”

The festival is free to attend, it is not ticketed, and attendees can purchase individual pours of the beers. Also, attendees can order a four-pour package that includes a commemorative glass. Featured beers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A food truck will offer food. The event offers indoor and outdoor seating.

“Since beginning to supply Inland NW grains to craft breweries in 2016, we’ve been thrilled to see world-class brewers from all over choose to work with LINC and our partner farmers,” shared Brian Estes of LINC Malt. “Welcoming those brewers each year at harvest time and getting to showcase their beer to our local community is very special for us.”
