Brewers Collaborate to Support the Washington Brewers Guild

The 2024 Washington Brewers Guild collaboration beer project.

Five different versions of a West Coast IPA brewed to benefit one common cause.

Breweries from across the state will assemble in the coming weeks for a collaborative brewing project. In all, they’ll create five unique versions of the annual Washington Brewers Guild collaboration beer. Five breweries in five regions across the state will host the collab brewing events. Exactly how many breweries will get involved remains to be seen (breweries can sign up here). All members of the Washington Brewers Guild are eligible to sign up and collaborate on the beers. This year, the chosen beer style is West Coast IPA. They’re calling it Westies with our Besties.

Each collaboration team will create its own version of a West Coast IPA. Washington’s beer lovers will find the beers at the participating breweries. The official release date for the beer is set for Thursday, May 23rd. All Washington beer lovers need to do is find and drink the beer. Enjoy it on-site or grab some cans to take home.

Proceeds from the beer will benefit the Washington Brewers Guild, a non-profit trade organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the interests of the state’s craft brewers while strengthening the Washington craft brewing community. The involvement of a long list of supporting partners enables the Guild to benefit from the beer’s production.

Those partners will provide the ingredients, and the product support, needed to make this a successful project. Malted barley donated by Prarie Malt. Hops provided by Hopsteiner. Packaging provided by Great Little Box Company. Supporting artwork provided by Blindtiger Design. The list goes on. Like the beers themselves, each version of the beer will sport slightly different label artwork. Variations on a theme, as it were.

Groups of breweries will assemble at the locations below to collaborate on the beer. If your favorite brewery is not one of the five breweries listed below, that does not mean it is not involved, it just means your favorite brewery is not hosting the brew session. The Guild will release the list of participating breweries soon and we will add that info to this story when available.

  • Eastern: Lumberbeard Brewing, Spokane
  • Central: Icicle Brewing, Leavenworth
  • Puget Sound: Stoup Brewing, Seattle
  • Southwest: Trap Door Brewing, Vancouver
  • North Sound: Kulshan Brewing, Bellingham

For more information, keep an eye on the Washington Brewers Guild’s website or social media channels.
