It’s a bitter-sweet thing. On one hand, a brewery auction is sad because it usually means a brewery has closed. On the other hand, it means that some other breweries are in a position to pick up some equipment at very agreeable prices. In the case of Hale’s Ale Brewery, a fixture on the Washington beer scene for nearly four decades, the closure was (in the end) inevitable. Sad to see Hale’s Ale ride off into the sunset, but it was one helluva run! Now, other breweries can get some historic brewing and food service equipment.

James G. Murphy is handling the auctioning of Hale’s Ale Brewery. The auction is open as of today, January 29th. It closes on February 5th. The auctioneer will host a preview on February 4th at the brewery in Seattle — a location familiar to many. (4301 Leary Wy NW, Seattle, WA 98107.)

The auction includes everything from the brewhouse to the front of house. From fermentation tanks to range hoods, from Baldor transfer pumps to a Wolf 4-burner natural gas flat-top grill. Tons of brewing equipment and a lot of commercial kitchen equipment.

The list of available items is too long to share here, but you can check it all out on the auction’s website. Here are a few items I think might interest a lot of breweries.
