On the cusp of its 12th anniversary, we’ve learned that Big Block Brewing is opening its 4th location
We received word yesterday from Lumber House Brewery that Big Block Brewing will take over its brewery/pub in Black Diamond, Washington. Lumber House Brewery, which recently closed, says it plans to resume operations in the future at a different location, though details are forthcoming. Go to Lumber House’s website and sign up for email updates. Big Block Brewing says it hopes to open the location in September.
Big Block Brewing currently operates three locations. The brewery and taproom is located in Redmond. It also has satellite taprooms in Sammamish and Carnation. The company celebrates its 12th anniversary this Saturday, July 12th in Redmond.
“As many of you have heard, Lumber House Brewery has officially sold the Black Diamond Pub to Big Block Brewery,” said an email from Lumber House Brewery. “As we undergo a period of restructuring while we relocate and reestablish, we will be sending periodic communication informing folks of our new direction.”
“It’s always sad for me when a brewery closes or shuts down locations,” said Big Block Brewing’s owner, John Julum. “It takes a ton of work, money and dedication to own and operate a brewery as anyone close to this will tell you, it truly is a labor of love. When we heard that Lumber House was closing, we contacted Jacob and Melissa. One thing led to another, and we came to an agreement that was mutually beneficial to both of us. This will be our 4th location, so we are very excited and proud to be able to make this announcement, we feel very lucky to be in this position.”
“We plan to open sometime in early September in the old Lumber House Brewing space in Black Diamond. This brew pub will feature roughly 110 seats, a full kitchen with pub style food and be open 7 days a week. We will have 20 taps featuring our awarding winning draft brews but also dedicating one guest tap for Lumber House beer to keep that great beer flowing. We are still doing some planning, and more details will be released in the coming weeks!”
For those unfamiliar, the location is on Highway 169 between Maple Valley and Black Diamond. A couple miles away, the Ten Trails masterplan community has brought lots of new residents to the area, with more on the way. When complete, Ten Trails will be home to approximately 15,000 new residents. There is other residential growth in the area as well.
