It’s been a year since Watts Brewing opened its brewery and taproom in Woodinville, assuming the location previously occupied by now-closed Sumerian Brewing. Before that, Watts Brewing was founded eight years ago and operated for the first seven years as a nano brewery with no taproom. On September 27th and 28th, the brewery celebrates both of those milestones: its first and eighth anniversary.
“We’ve now been in our Woodinville location for an entire year,” said the announcement from Watts Brewing. “Not only that, but this September marks eight years since we started this adventure as a little nano brewery in Bothell. We’re throwing a big ol’ party to celebrate both milestones, with beer release, live music, and BBQ.”
The anniversary weekend kicks off with a low-key educational event on Friday 9/27. The Orchard Bee Association–a trade group that promotes the use of mason bees to pollinate orchard crops–happens to be holding its annual conference in Woodinville that same week. Watts Brewing will host the Association’s research poster presentations at the brewery from 4:30 to 6:30. You are welcome to stop by and learn about the latest research on bees and pollination, and to chat with the experts in applied entomology. Tandem food truck is also joining us for the evening with their delicious seafood.
On Saturday 9/28 the celebration really gets rolling.
- They’ll tap kegs of Waggle Dance Wet Hop IPA when the taproom opens at noon.
- The brewery will host a special guided tasting session for its Solitary Society members starting at 12:30 pm. “It’s an awesome chance to learn about the hop harvest and how fresh hop beers are made. If you’re not already a member of the Solitary Society, you can still sign up here.
- After the fresh hop tasting, Carolina Smoke BBQ starts serving some delicious BBQ! They will be serving from 1:00 to 7:00, or as long as supplies last. Always popular, sell-outs are likely.
- Then at 6:00, the music starts! We have a double feature with two bands: The Kielbasa Nova will kick things off with a little rock, a little funk, and a whole lotta reggae followed by some funk rock from Sweetener. Both bands are awesome, it should be a fantastic show!
