A special beer, a special guest brewer at Georgetown Brewing

In May, Georgetown Brewing Company welcomed Annie Johnson into the brewery to recreate one of her award-winning beers. The resulting beer was just released at the brewery in Seattle.

The brewery describes Opa’s Mustache as a German Helles Exportbier – – “A beautiful copper lager with flavors and aromas of mildly toasted toffee, a light peppery spice, herbal notes from the Noble hops and crisp bitterness that finishes clean.” It is available at the brewery’s tasting room by the pint and in growlers.

Who is Annie Johnson? Well, she’s a rock star. She was the first woman in 30 years to win the American Homebrewers Association’s Homebrewer of the Year award (2013). Also, she won Pilsner Urquell’s Master Homebrewer competition. In other words, calling her a world champion brewer is not at all a stretch.

Furthermore, she was the head brewer at PicoBrew, the Seattle-based company that created a home-brewing appliance. There, she devised recipes and helped get the systems dialed in.

Most recently, Annie and Opa’s Mustache won the Sound Homebrew Supply Women’s Homebrew competition. Now you can get a taste of the scaled-up version of this award-winning beer.
