Markus Stinson is well-known on the local brewing scene. He’s been part of the industry for many years, most notably as a long-time lead brewer at Elysian Brewing, where he also served on the hop procurement team. He’s also been a fixture on the local music scene for a coon’s age as one of the guys fiddling with the nobs on the soundboard at some of Seattle’s most notable venues.
For the past few years, Markus has battled against stomach cancer. After a period of remission, he now finds himself testing positive again. He could use our help as he faces more intensive treatments that will prevent him from working for the foreseeable future. The Blu Grouse, a cozy little pub at 9839 17th Ave SW in White Center (just north of Burien and south of West Seattle) will host an event this Sunday, November 23rd starting at 2:00 PM. Proceeds will help Markus pay for out-of-pocket expenses, which will begin after the first of the year, when his annual deductible resets. We encourage everyone to come out and support a fellow beer industry veteran as he gears up for another battle with cancer.
