One of my favorite things about craft beer is the way breweries fit into the community. In so many cases, the local brewery works as a community resource. Case in point, 7 Seas Brewing announced today that it teamed up with 253Heart to create a new brew that supports local non-profit organizations.
Proceeds from 253 Pilsner will be donated to non-profit organizations around the South Sound region. The plan is to support various small, non-profits that have low overhead, the kind of organizations for which a few thousand dollars is a really big deal. The first two groups to benefit from the program will be Alchemy Skate and Peninsula Hands On Art.
Here is more information about the beer and program, straight from 7 Seas Brewing.
7 Seas Brewing and 253Heart have collaborated on a tasty new brew that gives back. 253 Pilsner hits retailers this week and has more going on then just hops and malted barley. A portion of the proceeds from 253 Pilsner will be donated to local South Sound non-profits. Two featured local non-profits are chosen at a time and fundraised to $5k. The goal is to work with a variety of small, local non-profits that have low overhead, and ones that the funds will impact greatly.
7 Seas’ co-owner/president Mike Runion says, “Both companies love our community and believe that largest impact for positive change comes from within. 253 Pilsner is a delicious NW Pilsner, a throwback to the brewing giants that used to inhabit our area. Great beer benefiting great local causes.”
The initial non-profits beneficiaries are ‘Alchemy Skate’ and ‘Peninsula Hands On Art’. Both fantastic local non-profits that make a huge impact locally.
This NW Pilsner, a classic 5.2% ABV craft lager is a nod to the NW’s rich brewing past. Clean and sessionable, 253 Pilsner is 100% WA. From the WA grown malt and hops to the 12oz cans made in Olympia. 253 Pilsner is now available in 6pks of 12oz cans and limited draft. Look for it at local retailers starting this week.
Gig Harbor’s 7 Seas Brewing has been brewing quality craft beers in the South Sound since 2009. Their offerings include 7 year-round brews, 4 rotating seasonals, and an extensive Tap Room Reserve Series. As the first brewery in WA to can craft beer, they have blazed a path of environmentally friendly packaging that has since been adopted by many others. 7 Seas has been voted ‘Best Brewery in the South Sound’ 5 years running by South Sound Magazine and ‘Best Brewery in Tacoma’ by The Volcano.
253Heart is a design that strikes into the hearts of many as a sign of local pride. A signal to those who see it that ‘Love of Place’ in the South Sound is strong and prideful. Current offerings include apparel, jewelry, and stickers.
