First visit to Wander Brewing’s second location in Bellingham

We were recently in Bellingham and visited visit ROAM Coffee + Beer, the new coffee shop and taproom from Wander Brewing that opened in November. As we reported originally, it’s not too far from the brewery and taproom. ROAM is located at 1205 Washington St, Bellingham, WA 98225.

ROAM Coffee + Beer has a very comfortable, neighborhood vibe to it. The kind of place that folks walk to and meet friends and neighbors for beers. Or coffee. On a Wednesday afternoon in late December, the crowd seemed split – half beer drinkers and half coffee drinkers.

ROAM is brightly lit with lots of big windows, softly colored in pale turquoise, buttercup yellow, and ocean blue. (I don’t know the actual names of the colors; I just made those up.) This is not an industrial space like so many other brewery taprooms. This one is a bit more refined and genteel.

As far as the beer is concerned, you’ll find a nice selection of Wander Brewing’s beers on tap and also a reach-in cooler offering several of Wander’s canned options to go.

ORIGINAL POST

I’ll be there in a couple of weeks to check it out, but until then, go take a look at Wander Brewing’s Instagram feed for more pictures.

Original Post from July 29, 2022 — One night, while sitting around a campfire in Mozambique, Collene and Chad hatched the idea to open a brewery. The idea was further hashed out while the couple traveled the world, hopping from one continent to the next. Literally, Wander Brewing was born from a spirit of adventure and discovery.

Chad and Colleen Kuehl settled down in Bellingham and opened Wander Brewing eight years ago. Recently, the company announced its next endeavor, a new beer and coffee shop about a mile away from the current Wander location.

“It has been a busy summer at Wander,” said the announcement on social media. “Our Brew Hall staff has been navigating the ever-changing environment while our brewers are cranking out more beer than ever before. We are incredibly thankful for our dedicated team.”

“Behind the scenes, we have been working on a new project that we are now able to share with all of you. Earlier this month we began building out a second location, ROAM Coffee + Beer. Roam will function as both a coffee destination and a beer outpost for Wander…”

Once open, you’ll find ROAM Coffee + Beer at the intersection of three of Bellingham’s neighborhoods: Fountain, Columbia, the Lettered Streets. The three neighborhoods converge at the triangular plot of land that ROAM occupies. There’s no word yet on when the new location will open, but follow Wander Brewing and ROAM Coffee + Beer on social media for updates @wanderbrewing @roambywander.
