River Barrel Distributing just announced the addition of another Pacific Northwest brand to its catalog: Stemma Brewing Company of Bellingham, Washington. Beer enthusiasts around the Seattle metropolitan area should expect to start seeing more Stemma beers soon.
Stemma Brewing opened in the summer of 2019 and quickly earned a place in the hearts of Bellingham’s beer lovers. Now the brewery looks forward to sharing its beers with a wider audience via the new partnership with River Barrel Distributing.
“We are really excited for expanded distribution into the greater Seattle area with River Barrel Distributing,” says Jason Harper, the founder of Stemma Brewing. “They are really focused on craft beer education and quality which are things we are passionate about. River Barrel’s concentrated book of brands allows them to spend the extra time with accounts, making them the perfect extension of the Stemma sales team.”
After years of home brewing, experience in the beer industry, and earning Level 3 Advanced Cicerone certification, Jason decided to go pro. To help realize the dream, he enlisted his wife and parents. In fact, the word stemma is a reference to the Latin term for genealogy or family tree.

Stemma creates a variety of beer styles, though IPAs have been the biggest sellers. No surprise there. Along with the beer, Stemma also has a line of seltzer: Super Squeeze Fruited Seltzer, which features a variety of rotating, all-natural fruit purees.
