Lowercase Brewing is closing the taproom, but not the brewery

March 26th closing date set for Lowercase Brewing’s taproom

Lowercase Brewing is closing its taproom in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood, but it is not shutting down the brewery. In fact, the company says it has some big things planned for the future. March 26th marks your last chance to enjoy a beer at the taproom on Airport Way.

The company says closing the retail operation will allow it to “further specialize, hone our brews and give us space for some exciting new projects.”

It never set out to focus so exclusively on lager-style beers, but Lowercase Brewing let passion map its course and that’s where it landed. That’s not going to change. Brewing great lager remains the target.

Lowercase Brewing says the coming years will see it “make some bold forays into spaces rarely entered by small, local beer brewers. Not only are we going to continue making some of the area’s best lagers but we’re also bringing local back to “big beer” in the Pacific Northwest. It’ll be a blast.”

We will keep an eye out to see who/what moves into the space on Airport Way and we look forward to seeing what the future brings for Lowercase Brewing.

Announcement from Lowercase Brewing

“Since our inception in 2014, one thing has remained constant here at Lowercase Brewing, the beer. It’s easy to get distracted by the stuff around the edges: identity, scale, popularity, but not us. The word “Beer” is printed clear as day on the side of our Georgetown taproom. The quality of our beer, the stories we tell, and the connection to our ingredients drives our craft. It is in the spirit of that commitment that we have made the difficult choice to sell our retail taproom in Georgetown.”

“March 26th will mark the last day we will serve beer at our Georgetown taproom. Our vibrant lager-loving community is incredibly important to us and we didn’t come to this decision lightly.”

“Like a lot of folks, 2020 gave us space (willingly or unwillingly) to examine what we value and how we spend our time and energy. While this decision was rife with emotion, it is one that will ultimately allow us to do what we do best – bring you the best beers we know how to make.”

“We never set out to be lager specialists, but what started with a personal preference has grown into a calling and now we’re hooked. The elimination of our retail operations will allow us to further specialize, hone our brews and give us space for some exciting new projects.”

“As has been the case, our beers will continue to be brewed out of our production facility in South Park. In the coming year, we’ll be launching a brand-new can club, release delicious brews more frequently and make some bold forays into spaces rarely entered by small, local beer brewers. Not only are we going to continue making some of the area’s best lagers but we’re also bringing local back to “big beer” in the Pacific Northwest. It’ll be a blast. Stay tuned!”

“After 7 years of slanging suds and making friends there will be a BIG weekend to wrap it all up in Georgetown and kick off this exciting new adventure. We are proud to be part of this beer-loving community and can’t wait to continue to delight all the Northwest lager-heads with what’s next.”

“That’s all for now. Make sure to keep tabs on us by following us on Instagram or by signing up for our newsletter.”
